One way to really make Focusing work for you in your daily life is to participate in experiential workshops.  My Focusing teaching is based on the model developed by Ann Weiser Cornell, Ph.D. and Barbara McGavin. I offer workshops when I have at least 4 people ready to take one.

I have taught several Level One workshops through Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, WA. and have assisted with Ann’s Level One course given by phone. If you are unable to attend a workshop in the Mount Vernon area of Washington state, please request a workshop by phone through tele-conferencing. It really works wonderfully!

AN UPCOMING LEVEL ONE WORKSHOP!!!

LEVEL ONE:

ENCOUNTERING THE INNER RELATIONSHIP

(12 hours, usually offered as four 3-hour classes or on two consecutive Saturdays) also additional session of practice with class participants outside of class time

Learn how bring your awareness within to give you access to your inner wisdom. You’ll build trust in this inner relationship, developing Presence. Become able to recognize a “felt sense” and how that differs from a feeling or emotion. Learn to access this distinct bodily knowing, even when you don’t yet have words to describe it. Begin to listen to another so you can Focus with a companion.

An individual Focusing session is a prerequisite to this Level One workshop, and the fee includes The Focusing Student's & Companion's Manual - Part 1 by Ann Weiser Cornell, Ph.D. and Barbara McGavin.

Cost: $250 with individual session of Focusing

         (recommended)

$225 workshop only  (if you've had a session

 with another Certified Focusing Professional)

(special rates for people participating in free Intro to Focusing telecalls)

LEVEL TWO:

ACCOMPANYING THE INNER RELATIONSHIP

(12.5 hours, usually offered as five 2.5-hour classes or on two consecutive Saturdays)

Learn advanced listening skills that will enhance both your own and another’s inner awareness. Learn the “leading in” process to begin a session. Explore “the edge,” that place where the unclear comes into clarity. As Ann Weiser Cornell says:

“You’ll learn more about Presence, the ability to be with anything that arises. And you'll learn more about the relationship between the two, how Presence helps the "edge" form, and how Focusing allows us to access wisdom that is so holistic, it's as if the problem knows how to solve itself!"

Cost: $250 or by arrangement

In Ann Weiser Cornell's and Barbara McGavin's system of Inner relationship Focusing, there are two more Levels, for those who want to learn more sophisticated ways of being a Focusing Companion, and go more deeply into the blocks that can get in the way of Focusing. I am not offering these levels at this time.

I would particularly recommend  Ann Weiser Cornell as a teacher. She offers Levels Three and Four by phone seminar so people can join from anywhere in the world.

"Focusing is a specific process through which we learn that each aspect of living, great and small, joyful and sad, expansive or insignificant, is carried in the body in a particular way. Through Focusing we can unlock doors and move into dimensions that cannot be entered through the intellect alone."

        Eugene Gendlin, Ph.D.
